Description

Charles Botha is a semi-retired businessman with “non-science” qualification in Personnel Management and a CIS. Julia Botha is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Natal. Eve Gibbs has a passion for painting since she was old enough to hold a brush.

After published, this book stole the market and becomes a most wanted book to purchase in its category. Two enthusiastic members of the Wildlife and Conservation Society of South Africa, Professor Julia Botha and her husband, Charles, have been awarded a university book prize by the University of Natal for popularising science.

She said although South African plants had been appreciated and exploited financially for decades by people in other countries, most South Africans had simply never thought of planting them in their gardens.
These plants were beautiful, she said, required less watering and pampering than exotic species, and could attract a wonderful range of wildlife into the garden.
“With this new approach, gardeners are helping to preserve and restore our fast-disappearing natural heritage, and are actually contributing to conservation right on their own doorsteps,” said Botha.
